As 2023 comes to an end and we look towards 2024, our ambitions are big and I’m proud to say that we’ve continue to gain momentum with a host of achievements. I would like to thank our customers, research and technology partners, investors, friends in the market, and not forgetting the dynamic SweGaN team, for an exciting year of growth and development.

Highlights from 2023:

We launched a new logo!


SweGaN is growing!

Today, SweGaN is a dynamic team of highly skilled professionals. In 2023, we introduced many new team members, including our new Director of Sales, Jan Engström, and welcomed Swedish telecom executive and former Ericsson CEO, Sven-Christer Nilsson, to join us as a Senior Advisor. Stay tuned – in January we’ll introduce two new leaders to the SweGaN team!

 

SweGaN launched project for new HQ and state-of-the-art wafer production facility

Backing our ambitious growth plans, SweGaN announced an exciting mega-project to build a new headquarters including a state-of-the-art, high-capacity semiconductor production facility in Linköping, Sweden.  The new facility, with completion plans aimed at Q1 2024 will provide substantial flexibility and means– in both hi-volume capacity and space.

 

R & D

SweGaN participated in a number of joint research activities as our ongoing collaboration with multiple prestigious research and commercial organizations and EU projects continue to cement our position in the industry as a key contributor of high-quality GaN materials.

  • SweGaN was included in Semiconductor Today feature, (Vol 18/Issue 8), in “Recessing metal contacts for Gallium Nitride transistors”,  Read more in ST’s issue, pages 64-65.
  • Prestigious “green” ALL2GAN EU project: In May, SweGaN announced its participation in the ALL2GAN EU project focused on easily integrated energy-saving chips made of gallium nitride.  The research project, led by Infineon Austria, brings together 45 partners from twelve countries with a total budget of around 60 million euros.


Conferences & events

The SweGaN team participated in a number of exciting conferences, and industry and business events around the globe, including a presentation on key insight and findings at ICNS 14 in Japan, Progress of buffer-free GaN-on-SiC HEMT heterostructures for RF and power applications”.


Qualifications

Our products entered multiple qualification processes by leading device manufacturers in 2023. We will be focused on completing the qualifications and starting volume production in 2024 for a wide range of RF applications.
