About SweGaN

SweGaN is a European semiconductor manufacturer that develops and produces customer-made materials and high-performance epitaxial wafers of gallium nitride for manufacturers of conductive components and devices. We develop and deliver unique material solutions based on the company’s groundbreaking GaN epitaxial technology.

SweGaN’s products are used for a wide range of applications, including 5G telecommunications infrastructure, defence radar, satellite communications, electric vehicles, high-voltage switches, and more. SweGaN’s benchmark QuanFINE® epitaxial growth technology increases the performance of RF and power devices and reduces energy consumption.

About the Role

As an Epi Process Engineer at SweGaN, you will contribute to ensuring stable, efficient, and reproducible epitaxy processes.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will combine technical analysis, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to support our manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with Production and Maintenance, acting as an important technical link between Process Engineering and Operations. You will also collaborate with Quality and R&D to support process development, quality improvements, and industrialization.

You will have the opportunity to work directly with advanced epitaxy reactors and characterization equipment, develop your technical expertise, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve epitaxy processes to ensure stability, reproducibility, and product quality.
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret process data, including in-situ monitoring data and relevant process parameters.
  • Perform process and material characterization using relevant measurement and analysis equipment.
  • Develop and maintain the qualifications required to operate epitaxy reactors and in-line characterization equipment.
  • Investigate technical deviations, identify root causes, and contribute to effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support process development, testing, validation, and implementation of technical improvements.
  • Contribute to process control and quality assurance through methods such as FMEA, SPC, OCAP, and control plans.
  • Identify and implement improvements to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, and process variations within your area of responsibility.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation, technical reports, and traceability.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and R&D to solve technical challenges and improve manufacturing performance.

Who Are You?

We are looking for a technically curious, analytical, and solution-oriented engineer who enjoys understanding how processes work and finding ways to make them better.

You have a structured approach to problem-solving, enjoy working with technical data, and understand the importance of quality, accuracy, and documentation.

You are comfortable combining hands-on technical activities with analytical work and enjoy collaborating with colleagues across different departments.

As part of a growing organization, you are adaptable, take responsibility for your work, and are motivated by contributing to long-term improvements.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A basic understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and process engineering.
  • Experience in technical analysis, data collection, and documentation.
  • A systematic and structured approach to technical troubleshooting.
  • An interest in working hands-on with advanced manufacturing and measurement equipment.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to work with technical information and ERP systems.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Meritorious

  • Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, particularly epitaxy processes such as MOCVD/MOVPE.
  • Experience operating epitaxy reactors or semiconductor characterization equipment.
  • Knowledge of process characterization, semiconductor materials, or in-situ process monitoring.
  • Experience with quality and process control methods such as FMEA, SPC, OCAP, or root cause analysis.
  • Experience in technical troubleshooting, deviation management, or continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.
